"Doing Some Good in the Hood"

It felt good to be out in Champaign community. I had the unique opportunity of seeing "Hip-Hop Express" at work this Saturday at the Block Party. It was a great experience in deed. The children around the neighborhood was excited to listen to music and play a state of the art video game "DJ Hero 2". Just seeing how engaged the children were, was inspiring. After talking to a couple of students they agreed to visit the Boys and Girls Club, which will obviously provide opportunities for leaders like ourselves to really engage and interact with them. "Hip-Hop Express" is truly changing neighborhoods one block at a time!

  1. I was also fortunate enough to stop by the block party this past weekend. It was the first I had also seen the Hip Hop express in action. Although I was only present for the beginning, I was still able to witness kids doing what they do best which is have fun, and ultimately it is activities and functions such as this that keeps them out of trouble. Being present reminded me that it is our job as a community and adults to provide these functions for kids. The concept is that it is very crucial for us to sacrifice time and effort for the betterment of our future (kids). After all there is no investment greater than that in my opinion.
